HIU History
Our History
Highstone International University (HIU) was founded by visionary education leaders who met during United Nations humanitarian activities and shared a common conviction: quality education should be accessible to everyone, everywhere, regardless of social or economic class.Who believed that education is a fundamental right and a powerful instrument for human development.
The founders envisioned a university that would reduce barriers to higher
education and provide accessible, relevant, and innovative learning
opportunities to people from different backgrounds and circumstances. This
vision was inspired by the principles expressed in Article 26 of the
Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which recognizes the right to
education.
From its foundation, HIU embraced a flexible and technology-enabled
educational model designed to respond to the changing needs of society. The
institution developed opportunities for both on-campus and distance learning,
allowing students to pursue education with greater flexibility in time and
location.
HIU began its instructional activities with 25 departments across
five faculties: Engineering, Health Sciences, Management Sciences, Education,
and Law. The university subsequently expanded its academic and
institutional structure to include graduate education, research and innovation,
continuing education, career development, alumni engagement, and social
service.
Today, HIU continues to develop as a globally oriented institution committed
to academic advancement, innovation, technology-enabled learning, international
collaboration, and continuous institutional improvement.
From a vision of accessible education to a growing global learning
community, the journey of HIU continues.
